Naturally Different: A Better Way to Work

McGowan Infrastructure prides itself on being Naturally Different through our environmentally sensitive and sympathetic approach. Our projects are often located in fragile and protected environments and through positive reinstatement we always strive to minimise any impact, increase biodiversity and restore natural habitats.

Our commitment to the environment is further demonstrated through our continued investment in training and highly specialised equipment and machinery which is designed to allow access to remote locations whilst minimising any potential impact works may have on the natural landscape.

We maximise the use of trenchless technology and our patented cable wrapping system for cabling projects to the energy industry which delivers both huge cost and carbon savings.

McGowan Infrastructure recognises that it has an important role to play in combating the global climate crisis. In addition to the environmental work we do for clients, we are also embarking on various green initiatives with the aim of reducing our own carbon footprint and becoming carbon neutral within five years.

In February 2024 we announced a partnership with SCOTLAND: The Big Picture providing vital funding toward riparian tree planting.

We have been actively involved in decarbonisation projects for many years - having delivered numerous onshore Wind and Hydro Energy Schemes through sister company McGowan Infrastructure - as well as completing extensive Peatland Restoration projects, restoring thousands of hectares of peatland across Scotland.

While these projects are undoubtedly helping the cause, we recognise that more needs to be done. McGowan Infrastructure has decided to go further and enhance our own carbon credentials, taking direct responsibility for offsetting our impact on the environment. An audit has been commissioned with Compare Your Footprint and we look forward to making further announcements in the near future.

In February 2022, McGowan Group we were thrilled to be confirmed as Lead Corporate Partner for the Cairngorms Cranes project, committing our support for the return of Eurasian cranes to the Cairngorms for the first time in more than 500 years! This rewilding project - led by SCOTLAND: The Big Picture - seeks to reintroduce a breeding population of cranes to the Cairngorms National Park, restoring a missing piece of the area’s ecology, encouraging the expansion of life-rich wetlands and creating opportunities for local communities and businesses.
